Dr Mercedes Espada

Dr Mercedes Espada is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with appointments at Nepean Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital. She completed a Fellowship with Associate Professor George Condous in endometriosis imaging and complex endometriosis surgery and subsequently became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FRANZCOG) in February 2020 She is passionate about endometriosis diagnosis and management, with minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and sonology expertise. She has her PhD and has been the recipient of multiple awards and grants in Spain, Australia and the USA. She completed a Visiting Fellowship in Gynecology at the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery and Endometriosis, Negrar, Verona, Italy and a Visiting Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the Department of Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Mayo Clinic Arizona, USA.

She has multiple publications in the field in peer-reviewed international journals including having externally validated the UBESS (ultrasound-based endometriosis staging system). This cumulative work led to her being recognised by the Australian Government under the Global Talent Program in July 2020 Subsequent to this, she was awarded the title of Clinical Senior Lecturer at Nepean Clinical School, Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney.
