Associate Professor Christos Apostolou

Associate Professor Christos Apostolou is a specialist general surgeon in the fields of upper gastrointestinal, liver, biliary and pancreatic surgery. He has appointments at the SAN Hospital and Bankstown Hospital Medical Centre. Graduating from the University of Cape Town in 1996, he undertook surgical training and qualified as a General Surgeon in South Africa in 2003, continuing with fellowships in tertiary trauma and hepatopancreaticobiliary and digestive surgery. He worked as a fellow in Upper GI Surgery in the busy South Western Sydney Area Health Service.

He was subsequently awarded his Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2012.

His areas of interest include diseases of the biliary tree and gallbladder, obstructive jaundice, hepatic surgery, oesophageal reflux and dysphagia, interventional endoscopy and diaphragmatic endometriosis.

He is trained in laparoscopic and open surgery as well as diagnostic and interventional endoscopy.

Christos speaks English, Greek and Afrikaans.
