Endometriosis affects 196M+ Women including AFAB Worldwide.

Endometriosis is one of the most common benign gynaecological diseases affecting 196 million women and people assigned female at birth worldwide. The exact prevalence of endometriosis is unknown, but some studies estimate that up to 10% of women may have the disease. The cause, ideal treatment and cure remain elusive. Australian women with endometriosis may have no symptoms or present with significant symptoms affecting their quality of life and fertility. Symptoms can include painful periods, painful sex, painful bowel movements, painful urination, fatigue and/or chronic pelvic pain over a long period of time not necessarily related to your menstrual cycle.

The Delay to Diagnosis from First Presentation to Diagnosis can be Up to 8 Years…

Due to a lack of awareness, the assumption that pelvic pain is normal and should be accepted, and the lack of education about menstruation.

Women with symptoms suggestive of underlying endometriosis want to be taken seriously and need to be listened to. At Sydney Endometriosis, we individualise your management based upon the impact that your endometriosis has on your life. We respect your choice and wishes when it comes to planning your individualised management. Our multidisciplinary team is at the cutting edge of clinical and basic research and therefore we implement the most up to date strategies when it comes to your endometriosis. Fortunately, not everyone with endometriosis needs intervention but for those women with debilitating chronic symptoms, the team you choose can be life changing.
